In April of 2019, a petition signed by 234 members of AAG called upon the organization’s governing council to reduce carbon emissions resulting from AAG’s annual meetings. Recognizing the value of reducing impacts of its gatherings, which attract about 9,000 attendees from the U.S. and worldwide, the council agreed to set up a task to re-envision their meetings with reduced emissions as a goal.
