I started to work in academia six years ago. During my PhD, the traveling aspect of the job was very attractive to me. Meanwhile, the effects of climate change have become more and more obvious and devastating, and I realize that the carbon impact due to my work was far from being negligible.
Now I don’t want to fly any more, even if I had to make a flight recently for a one week project meeting far away from my place. As far as I can, I take other means of transportation, and in doing so my boring trips have been transformed into wonderful journeys.
We live in a finite world; we should be aware of it and scientists should be models.
