I have tried to reduce my flying since 2000. I easily managed to stop flying for private purposes. However, although I took the train to conferences and meetings whenever possible, I still felt obliged to fly roughly once a year to international meetings.

This year, I have decided that I will not fly at all. I have had my first project meeting on Skype with all others being present at the meeting location. A bit awkward, and I may not have understood everything in as much detail as the others.

However, I feel much more at ease with my own conscience now. I have also become more vocal about my choice not to fly as a scientist, which I hope will inspire others.

I research about the design and use of IT for children.
