Historically, my career has taken me to India for performances and teaching. As my awareness of the climate crisis (and my engagement in climate activism) has grown, my determination to reduce my carbon footprint has increased. I have not been to India since 2016 and don’t expect to go in the next two years. My domestic air travel has dropped to no more than two flights a year.
Warren Senders is a specialist in khyal vocal music, the predominant form of improvised artsong in North Indian tradition. A composer and musical systems theorist, he teaches Music Education at New England Conservatory of Music.
