During my career I have flown from New Zealand to Europe and the USA at least 50 times. It’s time I stopped burning so much carbon.

However, I still encourage young scientists to travel so they can establish contacts and collaborations. But they don’t need to travel as often as I did.

I work on undertaking how white blood cells called neutrophils use chlorine bleach to kill bacteria.
