I more and more enjoy travelling long distance by train. It allows for better interaction with conference attendees that travel with me to the next interchange hub, or allows me uninterrupted time to focus on my work.
I studied food chemistry, learning mass spectrometry during this. My PhD was about metabolomics and proteomics in muscle and rare diseases.
Now I work as a scientist on the proteomics and metabolomics platform of our institute. In almost equal parts I work on data analysis, machine maintenance, and wet lab. Recently I also started to work on automation of laboratory processes.
