I hope the current trend towards online conferences persists even after we finally leave Covid-19 behind us. Although many of us will miss a personal component in meeting new people, it is vital to take individual bottom-up action against climate change, and not rely on top-down systemic changes.
In my Bachelor and Master thesis, I was (and am) working on theoretical particle physics (for anyone interested: Topological Solitons and 2HDM+a Dark Matter models, respectively). Although I enjoy this area of research, I am ever more drawn to more pressing problems of the tangible world. This is why I took up an interdisciplinary program in Environmental Studies and am looking to get more into Climate Science/Theoretical Ecology after finishing my thesis, either doing a second Master’s or a PhD.
