Well, I don’t have a lot to say except the obvious. It contributes hugely to my carbon footprint and I want to help change the culture equating travel with academic success.

I realize, though, that this is much more feasible now I have tenure — and the incentive systems in academe make it very challenging for those who are not tenured.

My research is in the area of cognitive neuroscience. I focus on how emotional relevance tunes perception, learning, memory and action in humans, how experience shapes these biases, and the brain systems that underlie these effects. One line of research involves how political affiliation and concern about climate change shapes how likely we are to perceive its signals.
