I stopped flying some years ago, since it is one of the main contributors for CO2-emissions. Despite many obstacles — especially within the scientific community where it is common to fly to many conferences — it is possible to use alternative modes of transportation. The example of flygskam in Sweden has shown that individual behaviour (on a collective basis) can also change the offer. Here the train network was subsequently expanded due to declining flight bookings and increasing train bookings. This should encourage us — not only with regard to our flying behavior.

Research interests: social identity processes within the context of political participation; social engagement and volunteerism (e.g., environmental and animal protection, human rights); the role of positive emotions on prosocial (e.g., pro-ecological) behaviour.
