I am committed to decreasing my carbon footprint as much as I can, and flying less — or not at all — is part of that plan.
I believe it is important to address retired people in general, and retired academics as myself especially, and get them to join the No Fly Climate Sci efforts as many folks see the elder years as years to engage in intensive tourism. This not only increases our ecological footprint but is ecologically, socially, and culturally devastating so-called ‘tourist meccas.’
I also believe that we need to strongly support Frequent Flyer Tax initiatives.
