Not only is flying bad for the environment, but for medical reasons it is bad for me personally. I have used my hybrid vehicle to drive to conferences since I purchased it in 2018, and it is wonderful to not have to buy a taxi from the airport and also to be able to plug in at my destination, often for free!
Plus, I can take as much luggage as I want, and I don’t have to worry about my stuffy academic suit jackets getting crumpled in the overhead compartment! No downsides, honestly.
I am a STEM education specialist interested in increasing participation in STEM for systemically marginalized groups (e.g., Black, Latinx, LGBTQ+, etc.). My focus is on collaborative learning and personal narratives as building blocks for a sense of community in STEM.
