Signed a pledge to not fly, and happily removed Easyjet app from phone! First challenge, book holiday in Corsica. Last year flew from Bristol to Nice and caught ferry to L’île Rousse, on North West coast (next to Calvi). So this year it’ll be train to London, Eurostar to Paris and TGV to Nice.
Takes longer #slowtravel, extra night each way in Paris (bonus) and apparently the views through France are amazing! Costs almost 3x more. Why is that? Because trains, boats (and cars) pay duty on fuel. Airlines pay none and fares are ridiculously cheap. #slowtravel may be more enjoyable and low carbon but it grates to have to pay so dearly for the privilege of taking longer and not flying.
