I made the commitment to stop flying just this week and today I take my last flight of 2019 (it was already booked before I made this commitment, sadly!). Although nothing is as effective as just not flying, I have donated to a tree-planting association to help “balance out” this last flight.

Since I dislike flying and airports anyway I have often chosen to take trains or coaches when traveling in Europe, and find these a convenient and cost-effective alternative. However, I am aware all these forms of transport are polluting so I am trying to reduce the long-distance journeys I take anyway.
