I’ve not flown for a number of years now, despite being fortunate enough to afford it and being surrounded by people, many of whom I respect and love, who fly very regularly. My choice to not fly is ONLY rooted in my concern about our planet; for years I thrived (financially as well as personally) on international adventure travel. In the seemingly insurmountable face of climate change, it feels like the most accessible thing I can do to make a tiny difference. While it’s still largely met with eye rolls from my family and friends, I do hope that if more of us make this choice we can normalize the notion of at least seriously questioning getting on a plane.
