I bowed out of flying from Boise to Boston for the National Science Teachers Association’s conference this spring. I have to start practicing what I’m teaching the youth of Idaho in my Environmental, Marine, and Earth Science classes.

I’m worried that with permafrost melting and releasing methane we’re past the point of no return, past the tipping point, and I’m saddened by my species’ legacy on the only biosphere we know. If my actions now can help stop this 6th Great Extinction from claiming 51% of our fellow species vs 49% seven generations from now, I’ll have done my part.
