I fly as little as possible. I visit my 91-year-old mother in Ohio once a year. I argue and smile with my partner about not flying to a vacation destination.
It’s a struggle because so many people put themselves first and the Earth and it’s ability to host life second, if they think of Earth at all. It’s so easy to think that if others are flying, why shouldn’t I?
I have decided that my decision to fly less makes a difference. And I tell people as ‘gently’ as possible how I approach this sensitive subject. I hope others make their own decision to fly less.
I work as Executive Director of Headwaters Montana, a local non-profit conservation organization.
