At the dawn of the millennium, I took the major step of moving 1500 miles away from my whole family in order to let my much older husband be near his family. Seemed like an okay idea. Want to see my sons, grandchildren, ancient parents, or sibs? No problem. Just hop a plane and go.

Travel was cheap, safe, and easy. Tourism has always been a favorite activity for my husband and me, including international trips and a shameless number of cruises. Fast forward to the late two thousand teens. A better-late-than-never realization of my climate crimes has caused me to confine my travels to family visits. I have also limited my driving to short and necessary trips. Buying local to reduce the impact of product transportation also helps.
