My street has flooded three times this year, which has really made me think about climate change. I stopped flying over 22 years ago and have not missed it at all. I take local holidays by train and bus (I don’t own a car either!) and enjoy very much the chance to get out in nature nearby me by bicycle.

My current carbon footprint varies according to which site I use, but is around 4 tonnes per year, which I find very hard to reduce further. Flying especially for holidays seems to me something people can reduce and reduce now, without waiting for a technological fix to our problems!

I was a botanist before having children, now they’re my full-time career — and artist, when time permits.
