I helped lead a Transition Town in my area, starting in 2009, and was influenced by other members of the movement to stop flying—or at least to fly far less often. Since 2009 I have flown round trip to New York twice for conferences, to Seattle once for work, and to Juneau for a vacation. And I don’t have any plans to fly again soon.

I would like to visit Europe again some day, but if I go I will make the trip worth the fuel that got me there and not just a drop in for ten days or so. The next vacation I have planned will be a cross-country trip by train!
