I chose to reduce my flying about 2 years ago because we are clearly facing a global crises through global warming. Given that I have interstate family and friends, this has necessarily meant less contact. And, of course, overseas trips are out of the question.

My friendship group all socialise around their travel experiences and stories, and my partner continues with international travel, presenting me with some personal/social challenges. The only flights I take now are much less frequent to see family who live interstate. (I suspect the boat option is as bad, if not worse, as far as pollution is concerned – but it remains an open question for me.)
